Everyone knows that Trader Joe's has the best flowers, right? Well I was shopping there yesterday & I happened upon these gorgeous lilies & I knew I needed to add them to my shopping cart.
I bought them because A) They're beautiful; B) They smell amazing; & C) I've been listening to a little too much Harry Potter & the Sacred Text lately (it's sooo good - check it out! Also if you live in Chicago they're doing a live show tonight which I'm 100% going to) so I've got lilies on the brain (Lily Potter, obviously). And isn't the coloring just amazing?!
Pantone Color Palette
I love the rusty warmth of these flowers. I don't know the technical term for the powdery part of the flower that's resulted in sprinkles of orange all over the petals, but I would like to thank whatever that thing is because I think it makes the flowers look super cool & like Picasso went at them with one of his splatter fits.
I pulled the yarn from my very own stash this week! Earlier this year when I was back home I visited Stitch Together Studio in Marion, IA with my mom & I saw this skein & kind of freaked out. It's just so warm & glorious so I picked it up & hugged it. And then I checked the name of the skein (which I often do with nail polish - if I already like the color & then the name is perfect I know I have to get it) & it was Buckingham which I'm hoping is for Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth is basically my hero so I clearly had to purchase it.
While this yarn doesn't match up perfectly with the palette above, I think it captures all the best parts of it: coppery, bright, & warm. I'm thinking this will be knit up into a Veronica Cowl in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for that.
